Embossing and debossing

are letterpress terms that describe the process where paper is compressed between a die and counter die. Embossing creates a three-dimensional design or image on paper while debossing indents text or an illustration. Debossing is a method typically used on leather and vinyl products to display a logo or text whereas embossing is best used on paper. While software can simulate a three-dimensional look, the ultimate result of embossing is an elegant, professional and three-dimensional logo or text.
